Ensure two means of egress from upper floor areas
PASS units armed

Place floodlight at cellar entrance
No freelancing
Search in teams of at least 2 firefighters
Mark all areas searched
Be aware of fire conditions, look for signs of flashover or backdraft
Monitor radio
Notify Command when searching above the fire
Check for fire extension as search proceeds
Coordinate search with fire attack operations
Secondary search once fire is under control
Start the search as close to the fire as possible and then search back toward
the entrance door
Search known or likely locations of victims as rapidly as conditions allow
Feel all doors before entering
Report conditions to Command
